CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati men's soccer Head Coach Hylton Dayes announced Tuesday the addition of Darren Gallagher to his staff as volunteer director of operations/coach.

A Wisconsin native and former University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh student-athlete, Gallagher was most recently a scouting manager with FC Cincinnati after previously serving as an operations manager with the club. Gallagher boasts years of collegiate soccer coaching experience, as well as stints in various levels of professional soccer.

"We are delighted to have Darren join our staff," said Dayes. "He is a well-respected soccer coach & administrator and will bring valuable experience from his time at the college and professional levels. We welcome him and his family to UC and look forward to having him on board."

Gallagher has spent the last three years in pro soccer, in operational roles first for Switchbacks FC and next FCC. He spent a season as a head men's and women's soccer assistant at Illinois Springfield after serving as a men's soccer assistant coach at Colorado Colorado Springs from 2013-16. Prior to UCCS, Gallagher was the head coach at NJCAA Division I Ancilla College. He was head coach for two years with Indiana University men's club team and spent two seasons as the men's soccer assistant at UW-Oshkosh. He returned to the UW-Oshkosh program after serving as an assistant coach at Ripon College in 2005 and 2006.

A 2006 UW-Oshkosh graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in education, kinesiology, coaching, and English, the defender helped the Titans to a 59-13-6 record and three NCAA Division III postseason appearances. The Mukwonago High School alumnus went on to earn a master's degree in educational leadership & athletics/sport leadership and management from UW-Oshkosh in 2009.

"It is an absolute pleasure to join the men's soccer staff at the University of Cincinnati," said Gallagher. "I have the utmost respect for Coach Dayes and his staff. Having observed their training sessions and matches, it is clear they are professional in their approach and I respect the level of character they bring each day to develop a culture of excellence. I am excited to help the program in any way possible to achieve success this season."
