CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati women's basketball has released its 2019-20 non-conference schedule, highlighted by nine home contests, including meetings with Utah, Ohio State, and Pittsburgh at Fifth Third Arena.
In total, the Bearcats will face five teams that reached postseason play a season ago, seven that won 20 or more games, and two that played in the NCAA Tournament.
Playing its first five games of the regular season at home, UC's challenging slate will tip off with Utah coming to Cincinnati on Nov. 5.
"When putting together our non-conference schedule," said Head Coach Michelle Clark-Heard," I wanted to really challenge our team. I wanted to bring a lot of quality competition to campus and I am excited that we will be opening up our season in Fifth Third Arena (FTA) against Pac-12 opponent Utah. We have a good mix of veterans and newcomers on the team and I am looking forward to watching our growth throughout our non-league schedule as we prepare for a rigorous American Athletic Conference season (AAC)."
After facing the Utes, the Red & Black will host Saint Louis on Nov. 10 before welcoming Ohio State to FTA on Nov. 13. Following back-to-back home games against Ball State (Nov. 16) and Chattanooga (Nov. 19), the Bearcats will take part in the Puerto Rico Clasico over the Thanksgiving holiday. In San Juan, Puerto Rico, UC will square off against reigning Big Ten champion and NCAA Elite Eight participant Iowa on Nov. 27 as well as Patriot League champ and NCAA qualifier Bucknell on Nov. 28.
Cincinnati will travel to Richmond, Virginia to battle VCU on Dec. 5 prior to returning to the Queen City to face regional rival Miami (OH) on Dec. 8 at FTA. The 2019 Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout against Xavier is set for Dec. 14 at the Cintas Center.
The Red & Black will round out its non-league slate with three-straight home contests: Dec. 17 vs. Alabama A&M, Dec. 21 vs. Pittsburgh, and Dec. 30 vs. Coppin State.
