The American Athletic Conference has named University of Cincinnati's Jordan Thompson as its Offensive Player of the Week for the opening weekend of competition.
 
Thompson continued where she left from her 2018 All-American season, averaging 4.70 kills and 3.20 digs per set with seven service aces and seven blocks in the Panther Challenge, earning all-tournament honors. In the season-opening match against South Carolina, who received votes in the preseason coaches poll, Thompson recorded a double-double, leading the team with 20 kills and 18 digs in the victory. Against No. 12 Pitt she had nine kills with six digs and two aces. Thompson helped UC close out a 2-1 weekend with 18 kills on a .359 attack percentage in a 3-0 win over Cleveland State.

UC travels to East Lansing, Mich., for the Spartan Invitational next weekend. The team will face Tennessee and host Michigan State on Friday, September 6 then conclude the event with a match against Indiana State on Saturday.
