CINCINNATI – Registration is open now for the Fourth Annual Bearcats Dash & Bash, presented by UC Health. The races are scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019.The 5K and 18.19K races will take place on and around the University of Cincinnati campus.

The 5K run/walk winds through the University of Cincinnati's award-winning Uptown campus, which features works by some of the world's most renowned architects.

The 18.19K course celebrates the year of UC's founding in 1819.  This point-to-point course starts on campus, then takes runners out through Clifton's historic Gaslight District, past Spring Grove Cemetery and through Fairview Park with a stunning overlook of the City.

All participants will receive an exclusive commemorative t-shirt and finishers will earn a special medal celebrating UC's Bicentennial.

Wind your way through the race course of your choice and be rewarded by finishing on the field in Nippert Stadium with a view of yourself on the videoboard!

After the Dash, celebrate your success at the Bash!  This post-race party will be held around the concourse of Nippert Stadium beginning at the start of the race.  Enjoy free live music and exchange tear-away tickets on your race bib for FREE food, beer, and soft drinks from a wide array of vendors.  Additional refreshments will be available for purchase.

TEAM FUNDRAISING EVENT
A new feature for the 2019 Dash & Bash is the creation of a team event for camaraderie or fundraising purposes. UC Athletics and UC Law's Ohio Innocence Project will form a number of teams featuring leaders, staff and supporters from both organizations.

On race day, OIP exonerees and former Bearcats student-athletes will walk with selected teams and be available to speak to the group following the race.

Teams can be created by individuals, groups, companies or organizations.

Those who create their own team or join one of the official race teams will have a link that they can email to friends or share on social media that will help them seek sponsorships from their friends and family.  Any runner/walker who, as part of the team fundraising aspect, raises a set amount ($250 for 5k, $500 for 18.19k) will have their race registration fee automatically refunded and thus will run/walk for free.

All fundraising proceeds will benefit the UCATS General Scholarship Fund and the Ohio Innocence Project.

ABOUT UCATS
UCATS is an acronym for University of Cincinnati Athletic Team Support and was established in 1979. It was created to provide financial support to fund student-athlete scholarships and special needs of the athletics department; while fostering camaraderie, sportsmanship and school spirit among students, faculty and staff, alumni and friends of the University of Cincinnati athletics programs. The private support received from donors provides deserving student-athletes with the necessary tools to be successful in their respective sport, in the classroom and in the community. Increasing the number of memberships in UCATS is critical to building an economic model that will support the long-term growth of UC Athletics.

ABOUT THE OHIO INNOCENCE PROJECT
The mission of the Ohio Innocence Project (OIP) is to free the innocent from Ohio's prisons, improve the criminal justice system, and educate about wrongful convictions.  Part of the Rosenthal Institute for Justice, the OIP is one of the crown jewels of the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

To date, the OIP has freed 28 inmates on grounds of innocence, who together served more than 525 years in prison for crimes they didn't commit.  Three of those innocent inmates served time on Ohio's death row.  At the OIP, law students perform the bulk of the work in uncovering these injustices.  More than 250 law school graduates are now using the skills they learned in OIP in places ranging from Wall Street law firms to prosecutors and public defenders offices around the country.
