University of Cincinnati volleyball will make the short trip south for the NKU Invitational this weekend. The event starts with a 3 p.m. match against Notre Dame on Friday, September 13. The Bearcats will follow that with a 10 a.m. match versus Ball State and a 7:30 p.m. match against the host Norse on Saturday.

• Notre Dame is 4-1 this season, coming off a big win over nationally-ranked Purdue who it beat in a five-set match
• Last season the Fighting Irish finished 16-12 overall and 10-8 in ACC action
• ND holds a 6-11 advantage over UC all-time
• The two teams last faced each other in 2012 when the Bearcats dropped both a home and away match in five sets to the Fighting Irish
• Prior to that, in 2011 the Bearcats bear the Irish in straight sets in the Big Ten Tournament

• Its most recent match was a 3-0 loss to Marshall at the Bulldog Invitational in Washington, D.C.
• The Norse finished 21-10 and 11-5 in conference last year
• They also went to the NVIT and lost 3-0 in the opening round to Miami (OH)
• UC and NKU have not met on the volleyball court since 2015
• That match was a 3-1 victory for the Bearcats in the Queen City Classic, giving UC a 7-6 all-time record against NKU

• After the NKU Invitational concludes, UC will take part in the annual Queen City Classic, hosted by Xavier this year
• The competition will begin with the two rivals playing a 6 p.m. match at the Cintas Center on Thursday, September 19
• The Bearcats will then host Bowling Green on Saturday in their home-opener at Fifth Third Arena at 12 p.m.
• UC will host Louisville on Alumnae Day on Sunday, September 22 at 1 p.m.

• The event started with a huge sweep of No. 21 Tennessee
