CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Former University of Cincinnati men's soccer defender Richardo Israel (2012-14) is playing professionally with new American soccer club Stumptown Athletic of the National Independent Soccer Association.

The club, founded in 2018, has had two matches this month to begin its inaugural season, with Israel (Freetown, Jamaica/Lennon) playing all 180 minutes as the team went 1-1.

Israel -- a BIG EAST All-Rookie team selection and two-time preseason All-American Athletic Conference pick -- played three seasons for the Bearcats, starting 34 matches and recording an assist.

After graduating from UC, the native Jamaican played with the MASL2 Cincinnati Swerve – a local men's arena soccer team -- for three years before catching on with Stumptown Athletic.

Israel's professional appointment is just the latest instance of Bearcats advancing to the next level after Emmanuel Appiah (2011-15) signed with LA Galaxy II in March of 2018.
