American Athletic Conference play begins this weekend as University of Cincinnati volleyball hosts ECU on Friday night at 7 p.m. then travels to take on Wichita State on Sunday at 2 p.m. EST.

• Jordan Thompson is posed to make history Friday night as she needs just eight more kills to be the all-time career leader in UC history
• The Bearcats' and US Women's National Team star already claimed the conference career kills record last season while she also claimed the single-match kills record for the AAC and UC
• With eight more kills, Thompson's career total will come to 2,138, breaking Julie DuPont's record. DuPont played from 2001 through 2004
• Thompson is just the second Bearcats player all-time to have reached the 2,000 kill mark in her career
• Stephanie Niemer, who is third all-time at UC, finished with 1,976 kills in her playing career that spanned 2007-2010

• The Bearcats won three-straight non-conference tournaments in preparation for conference play, winning the Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational, NKU Invitational and Queen City Classic
