TicketsLEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Cincinnati women's golf junior Vanessa Manrique (Bogotá, Colombia) led the Bearcats on day one at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational at the University Club of Kentucky with a first-round 75 to place in a tie for 24th overall.
In a highly-competitive field of competition, Manrique was strong on the front nine holes of the first round, going 1-over-par. Her back nine was not quite as successful, but included birdies on holes 10 and 18 to move into a tie for 24th on the player leaderboard.
Junior Angela Lopez (Bogotá, Colombia) continued her strong play from early this week with an opening-round 76, including birdie scores on holes one and two. Following a 41 on the back, the junior slotted into a tie for 33rd overall.
UC's scoring team rounded out with senior Alyssa Burritt (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) shooting an 81, with a trio of birdies, and freshmen Paighton Masterson (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) and Natalia Sompolvorachai (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) carding rounds of 81 and 86, respectively, with Sompolvorachai birdieing hole No. 1. Competing individually, senior Daniela Murcia (Bogotá, Colombia) stands 42nd after firing a first-round 77 with one birdie score.
The second round of the tournament will begin Saturday morning with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET. UC will begin teeing from hole No. 10 at 9:15 a.m. ET and will be paired with groups of individuals. Follow along with live scoring here.
