LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Cincinnati women's golf wrapped play Sunday at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational at the University Club of Kentucky with a final-round score of 298 – its best score of the young fall season.
The Bearcats scoring team was paced by junior Vanessa Manrique (Bogotá, Colombia) who carded a season-best round of 69, featuring 3-under-par on the front nine and four total birdies on the day to end the event tied for 22nd. UC's top finisher for the tournament was individual competitor senior Daniela Murcia (Bogotá, Colombia) who was consistent all weekend and wrapped the tournament with a third-round 74 to finish in a tie for 19th.
Junior Angela Lopez (Bogotá, Colombia) bounced back from a score of 80 during Saturday's second round with a 75 today, featuring an even-par back nine holes. Freshmen Paighton Masterson (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) and Natalia Sompolvorachai (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) stayed consistent on Sunday with scores of 77 and 78, respectively, and combined for two birdie scores. Senior Alyssa Burritt (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) shot a 77 to bring her three-day total to 233.
After playing in two tournaments in seven days, UC will be off for two weeks before returning to competition at the College of Charleston Palmetto Intercollegiate, Oct. 13-15 in Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
