UC (3-6, 0-1 AAC) had an impressive showing Tuesday night at Gettler Stadium with a 5-0 shutout of the visiting Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons.
The Red & Black's five goals were the most they have scored since a 5-1 win over Temple on Oct. 18, 2014.
UC's offense was paced by junior forward Darryn Commissiong (Pickering, Ontario/St. Mary Catholic) who dished out an assist and recorded a pair of goals – both within 10 minutes of each other late in the second half – to bring his season total to 12 points.
Goals were also scored by junior Creggton Charlton (Clarendon, Jamaica/Clarendon College/Daytona State) and sophomore Marcello Jones (Cornwall, England/Truro College). An own goal by PFW in the fifth minute ultimately proved to be the game winner.
// SCOUTING THE OWLS
Temple (3-5, 0-1 AAC) topped Old Dominion 1-0 on Tuesday with a goal by senior Leandros Lillis with just 55 seconds left in regulation. Goalkeeper Simon Lefebvre pitched a shutout with three saves on the night. On the season, Lukas Fernandes leads the Owls with a pair of goals to go along with an assist. Lefebvre has 26 saves in 2019 with a trio of clean sheets. In the preseason, Temple was picked to finish fifth in the eight-team AAC with Fernandes a unanimous preseason all-league pick.
