University of Cincinnati men's basketball coach John Brannen met with local media Friday, Oct. 4 to preview "Bearcats Madness Presented by Skyline Chili" and update fans on the team's roster heading into the season. Below are some of his comments.
On UC's roster heading into the Madness event:
"I've got some updates as not everyone (on the roster) will be a part of Bearcats Madness. All of these are medical injuries. Prince (Toyambi) is out indefinitely right now. We'll know more in the coming weeks. Jarron (Cumberland) won't participate tonight. He's missed the majority of the summer and most of the fall with a reoccurring injury he had last year to his foot. Jeremiah Davenport will be out until December after offseason summer knee surgery. Trevor Moore is out about six weeks with an Achilles issue.
"I do have some other news. (Junior transfer center) Chris Vogt won a waiver from the NCAA. He will be eligible to play for us this season."
On if he's excited about the Madness event:
"I'm excited. Midnight Madness is for our fans and our players. I joke around about it but I grew up coming to Midnight Madness at the Shoe. If I could get my buddies to go and my parents to let me stay up late we would come over here. The guys are really excited about it. I hope we have a good showing."
On what his teams are going to bring:
"We're going to bring a style of play. We're going to bring a tenacity and toughness. We're going to bring in young men you will enjoy coming to watch play."
