PHILADELPHIA – University of Cincinnati volleyball took down Temple in straight-sets Sunday afternoon to improve its American Athletic Conference record to 6-0.

• Jordan Thompson led with 19 kills and made it a double-double with ten digs
• Maria Mallon also had a double-double with 13 kills and 14 digs. She also added in two aces
• Armania Heckenmueller led the match with 39 assists and had nine digs
• Mckenzie Conner had a team-high 15 digs
• Adria Oliver contributed with six kills and three blocks
• Karoline Fasuke had a good all-around game, totaling six kills, six digs, two blocks and a team-high three aces
// SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: UC 25-17
UC looked strong in the opening set. The first two points of the match came via Mallon and Fasuke kills. An 8-0 run opened the lead to 11-3. Oliver started it with a kill and two Fasuke aces and two Thompson kills followed. After a Temple timeout, UC kept it going with another Thompson kill and back-to-back kills by Oliver. Later on, the Owls scored four straight points to bring the Bearcats lead to 18-11. A timeout allowed the Bearcats to come back out and score the next two points to get to twenty. Temple held on to score a few more points down the stretch, but Mallon ended the set on a kill.
Set 2: UC 25-16
Temple got out to an early lead before UC came back. Down 3-1 early, Fauske had a kill, Kerstin Ficker has an ace and Thompson had a kill to take a 4-3 lead. The set remained close until Mallon put the lead at five on a kill and ace. The Owls would get within three, 15-12, but Oliver and Thompson kills kept the Bearcats in control. Conner served and ace to make it 20-14 before the final three points came from UC. Fauske had a kill, Mallon an ace and Fasuke and Dimitra Tziarli a block to make it a 2-0 match lead for the Bearcats.
Set 3: UC 25-12
Despite being down 7-2, the Bearcats stormed back to take the lead. Out of a timeout, Thompson had back-to-back kills then teamed up with Oliver for a block. Two more Thompson kills tied the set at eight. The next two plays put UC out front for good as Oliver and Heckenmueller recorded a block and Thompson an ace. Two Temple errors and a Mallon kill pushed the advantage to 18-11. It became a ten-point lead after a Owls error, Mallon kill and Fasuke kill. Mallon ended the match with a kill off a set from Heckenmueller.
