University of Cincinnati volleyball has a big week ahead as the team travels for two American Athletic Conference matches. First, UC takes on Tulane at 8 p.m. EST on Friday. The weekend concludes with a 2 p.m. EST match at Houston on Sunday.

// OPPONENT OVERVIEW
• UC is 29-3 all-time versus Tulane
• The Green Wave finished third in the conference standings last season and currently sits at 14-5 overall and 4-2 in AAC play this season
• Tulane's two conference losses came 3-2 versus Houston and 3-1 at Tulsa
• Last season, the Green Wave handed the Bearcats one of their just three AAC defeats, winning 3-1 at home
• UC responded with a 3-2 victory later in the season at Fifth Third Arena
• The Bearcats also split with the Green Wave in 2017, winning at home and losing on the road
• UC won both matches in 2016
• The Bearcats are 15-8 all-time against Houston
• Houston is the only other undefeated team in the conference through the first six matches
• The Cougars took SMU, Memphis, Tulane and Temple to five sets and most recently beat both Wichita State and Tulsa in four sets
• Last season, the Bearcats swept the Cougars at home
• UC won both meetings with Houston in 2015, 2016 and 2017
• Houston's last win over UC came in November 2014

• The Bearcats continue to gain national attention as one of the top teams in the nation statistically
• UC leads all 332 NCAA Division I schools in assists per set and kills per set and ranks fifth in aces per set and fifth in hitting percentage
• For the second-straight year, Jordan Thompson leads the country in kills, points, kills per set and points per set
Armania Heckenmueller is now the national leader in assists per set
• Joining the top ranks, Maria Mallon is 30th in the country in aces per set
 
// COMING UP NEXT
• The Bearcats return after Sunday to face a five-game homestand
• UC hosts Memphis and SMU on Friday, October 25 and Sunday, October 27, respectively
• The team then hosts is lone midweek match of the season on Wednesday, October 30, facing regional foe Dayton
• The homestand concludes against Temple on Friday, November 1 and UConn on Sunday, November 3
