Set 1: TLN 25-23
Heckenmueller began the match with back-to-back aces to give the Bearcats a strong start, but the Green Wave was able to come on late to win the opening set. Two kills by Fauske and one by Cabarkapa put UC ahead 5-2 early. Later on, the lead stood at 9-5 after an Oliver kill and Thompson ace. UC took another four-point lead, 15-11, on a 4-0 run. Two Tulane errors, a Mallon ace and Thompson kill allowed the Bearcats to stay out ahead. The Green Wave answered with a 4-0 run of their own to tie it at 15. Some more Tulane errors allowed UC to hold on to a lead late. Tied at 21, a bad set kept UC up. However, Tulane then scored three-straight points before a Thompson kill ended the streak. A kill by the Green Wave ended the set.

Set 2: TLN 25-22
The Bearcats had some late runs in the second set but could not win it. Down 6-3, Mallon had a kill, Cabarkapa and Heckenmueller had a block, Thompson had a kill and Fauske had a kill to tie the set at seven. Tulane put together a run to take a 14-8 lead but UC worked back to make it a one-point set, 16-15, after a string of points via a kill from Adria Oliver and three Thompson aces. A 3-0 run tied the set at 18 after another Oliver kill, a Mallon kill and a Green Wave error. Mallon made it 23-21 with an ace and Fauske kept the team alive facing set-point with a kill, but the Green Wave took the 2-0 match lead with a kill.

Set 3: TLN 25-22
UC started the third set strong and looked like they were going to make a comeback but fell just short. Cabarkapa opened the set with back-to-back blocks, joined by Thompson and Fauske. The set remained close until Tulane snuck out ahead to lead 18-14. Down 21-16, UC scored on a Fauske kill and Thompson ace. Facing set point, another kill by Fauske started a late scoring run.
