TicketsSARASOTA, Fla. – University of Cincinnati women's golf continued its strong play Monday with a second-round 299 to move into fifth place – out of 17 teams – at the 42nd FIU Pat Bradley Invitational at Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club.
After carding its best round of the season Sunday – an opening-round 285 – to sit in a tie for second and just two shots off the lead, the Bearcats combined to shoot nine birdies Monday to slot into fifth place on the team leaderboard.
Freshman Natalia Sompolvorachai (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) bounced back from a first-round 78 with a following-round 73 – featuring four birdies -- to lead the Red & Black in scoring on the day.
Senior Alyssa Burritt (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) continues to pace the team on the player leaderboard in a tie for eighth after turning in a plus-2 74 today with a pair of birdie scores. She shot a career-high-tying 68 yesterday to finish the first round just one stroke off the lead.
Freshman Paighton Masterson (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) resides in a tie for 19th overall following Monday's 75 (+3) with birdies on both the front and back-nine holes. She carded a season-best score of 70 (-2) yesterday to tie for 10th.
Senior Daniela Murcia (Bogotá, Colombia) finished today's round strong at plus-1 on the back to shoot a 77 in total. Junior Angela Lopez (Bogotá, Colombia) carded a 78th and is tied with Murcia and Sompolvorachai for 47th.

"The team had to battle some tough conditions today. We are very proud of all the effort as the team fought hard until the end. The difference between yesterday and today was simply birdie putts dropping. Today we had a total of nine birdies which hurt us for sure. Out of the top-six teams, next lowest birdie total was 12. The team needs to go out tomorrow with the same strategy and commitment and see if we can get a few more putts to drop. This team just needs to continue to believe in themselves."
