CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati volleyball had a strong match in all facets of the game Friday night to sweep Memphis in front of a home crowd at Fifth Third Arena.
UC hit .380 in the match and added in 43 digs and 10.5 blocks on defense.

• Jordan Thompson led the attack with 17 kills while hitting .483. She also had nine digs and three blocks
• Adria Oliver hit double-digits in kills with ten on a .471 percentage
• Armania Heckenmueller paced the offense with 34 assists and had ten digs
• Damjana Cabarkapa had a strong night with eight blocks, including two solo
• Mackenzie Conner finished with a team-high 15 digs and helped with eight assists
• Karoline Fauske started the match by getting six kills on six attempts in the first set. She ended the night with nine kills with no errors while hitting .667
// SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: UC 25-14
A Thompson kill, Memphis error and Fauske error gave UC a 3-0 start to the match. The Bearcats went up by six, 14-8, after a trio of Memphis attack errors. Back-to-back kills by Fauske then grew the lead to 16-8. Kills by Fauske and Thompson and yet another Memphis error put the score at 20-11. Maria Mallon ended the set on a kill and an ace.
Set 2: UC 25-17
The Bearcats dropped the first two points of the second when the Tigers scored on a kill and ace, but they quickly got in control. A solo block by Cabarkapa tied the set at nine and another block by Cabarkapa, this time with the help of Thompson, gave UC a 12-10 advantage. The lead grew out of a timeout by kills from Thompson and Fauske. Oliver added in back-to-back kills to force another Memphis timeout as UC led 19-15. The final five points were all by UC as Mallon started the streak with three-straight kills, Cabarkapa and Mallon had a block and Cabarkapa ended it with another solo block.
Set 3: UC 25-18
UC cruised to another set victory to win the match. Kills by Heckenmueller and Oliver followed by a Thompson ace made it a 6-4 lead early on. A Fasuke kill and two from Thompson made the Tigers call a timeout. UC led 11-7 at that point. Memphis brought the lead to within two, 12-10, but Oliver answered with a kill and Fauske served an ace to extend the lead. The Bearcats once again had a strong finish to the set. Leading 19-18, Cabarkapa had a kill, the Tigers had a service error, Cabarkapa and Fasuke had a block, Mallon serve an ace, Cabarkapa, Fauske and Thompson all teamed up for another block and Thompson sealed the victory with a kill to end on a 6-0 run.
