// LAST TIME OUT
UC (5-10-1, 1-4-1 AAC) fell 4-0 to the USF Bulls on Friday night at Corbett Stadium in Tampa, Florida in its final road contest of the regular season.
The Bearcats fell behind early when the Bulls deposited a score in the sixth minute. The Red & Black's hole dug deeper in the 23rd minute – a penalty-kick conversion -- and again in the 42nd minute with back-to-back goals by the home team.
Looking to rebound from a 3-0 halftime shortfall, UC's defense kept USF off the board for much of the second half, but was unable to chip away at the deficit. The Bulls added another tally in the 74th minute to ice the game, 4-0.
On the night, the Bearcats totaled seven shots, but just one on goal – a try by Segree in the first half. Segree led the team with three shots, while junior Creggton Charlton (Clarendon, Jamaica/Clarendon College/Daytona State) added two. Junior goalkeeper Noah Lawrence (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Sacred Heart) saved five shots to bring his season total to conference-leading 59 stops.
On the season, junior forward Darryn Commissiong (Pickering, Ontario/St. Mary Catholic) leads the Bearcats with 13 points (5 goals, 3 assists), while Charlton has 11 points (5 goals, 1 assist).
// SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
No. 6 UCF (12-1-2, 5-0-1 AAC) clinched their second-consecutive regular-season AAC title on Friday night, defeating the Memphis Tigers 1-0 at home. Redshirt freshman midfielder Gianluca Arcangeli scored the only goal of the match – a tally during the 85th minute. On the season, the Knights offense is led Cal Jennings' 27 points (12 goals, 3 assists), while additional notable contributions include Louis Perez's 17 points (4 goals, 9 assists), Yoni Sorokin's 13 points (4 goals, 5 assists), and Gino Vivi's 12 points (4 goals, 4 assists). Goalkeeper Yannik Oettl is strong between the pipes with 47 saves and a 72% save percentage. In the preseason, the Knights were unanimously picked to win the league with Jennings projected as Offensive Player of the Year and Oettl Goalkeeper of the Year. Perez and Sorokin were also selected preseason all-conference. On Tuesday, UCF will be going for sole possession of the regular-season conference crown and its first unbeaten record in AAC play.
