MACON, Ga. – University of Cincinnati women's golf senior Alyssa Burritt (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) recorded her second straight top-20 finish Tuesday with a final-round 76 (+4) to finish in a tie for 18th at the Mercer Idle Hour Collegiate Championship at Idle Hour Golf & Country Club.
For the tournament, the senior totaled 226 over three rounds to lead the Bearcats. As a team, UC shot a 316 Tuesday to bring its three-round total to 947 to finish in 13th place.
Burritt went plus-2 on both the front and back-nine holes of the third round with a birdie on hole No. 3 and saved par on holes 11-18.
Senior Daniela Murcia (Bogotá, Colombia) followed Burritt in a tie for 42nd overall with a third-round 79 – featuring a pair of birdies on the front nine – to total 235 over the two days.
Junior Angela Lopez (Bogotá, Colombia) improved upon Monday's rounds of 84 and 80 with a 79 Tuesday to move into a tie for 67th. Freshman Paighton Masterson (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) ended the fall season with a three-round total of 248, including two birdie scores on Tuesday. Fellow rookie Natalia Sompolvorachai (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) eagled hole No. 1 and birdied hole 6.
After a few months off, UC will tee off the spring season Feb. 17-18 at the Amelia Island Collegiate in Fernandina Beach, Florida
// COACH CARL ON THE BEARCATS
"The players still struggled in executing the shots necessary to play this course well. We are proud of Alyssa and her top-20 finish. We have a week off and then time to get back at working to get better. This finish, which was not helped by the errors that were made yesterday, is a tough one to swallow as we head into the offseason. The good news is we have a clear list of what needs to be improved."
