// TEAM NOTES
  • With the win, Cincinnati improved to 1-1 on the year while Drake fell to 1-1.
  • IN THE SERIES: Cincinnati improved to 23-8 all-time against its former Missouri Valley Conference foe while also moving to 13-3 all-time when the two teams meet in the Queen City. Tonight's game was the first since the Bearcats won, 73-67, on January 23, 1974, in Des Moines, Iowa.
  • HOME OPENERS: Cincinnati is now 86-11 all-time in its home opener and stands 26-2 in its first home game of the season inside Fifth Third Arena.
  • The win tonight also is the first of Head Coach John Brannen's tenure with Cincinnati. He is now 5-0 all-time in his first home game of a season as well.
  • Since the start of the 2016-17 season, only three teams have won 50 games at home with the Bearcats joining the list tonight. Prior to tonight, the other two teams with 50 or more home wins in that span are Texas Tech at 52 and Gonzaga at 50. Kentucky is just off the pace with 49 home victories through Sunday.
  • Tonight's win is the 1,817th all-time in program history and ranks the Bearcats 13th all-time in NCAA history.
  • Cincinnati shot 51.7 percent from the floor while holding the Bulldogs to 35.5 percent shooting. The Bearcats connected on 31 shots on the night with 20 assists to go along with those buckets.
  • HALFTIME REPORT: Cincinnati took a 44-25 lead into the halftime break with six different Bearcats scoring at least five points in the opening 20 minutes, including Jarron Cumberland, who had a game-high 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. UC found itself trailing, 14-12, at the 12:09 mark before a Cumberland trey sparked a 29-11 run for the Bearcats, taking them from one down to ahead by 19. Roman Penn was the top scorer for Drake with seven points, five of which came in the final 28 seconds of the stanza as the Bulldogs closed on a 7-0 run of their own.
  • In the first half, the Bearcats shot 17-of-30 from the field (56.7 percent) with 12 of those makes being assisted, already three more than the team had in the entire game at Ohio State in the opener. Eight different players had at least one helper with four players – Chris McNeal, Jaume "Jay" Sorolla, Keith Williams and Mika Adams-Woods – each had two assists in the half.
// PLAYER NOTES
  • Four players scored in double figures tonight against Drake. The last time UC had four players score 10 or more in a game came last year (March 22, 2019) in the NCAA Tournament against Iowa.
  • Jaevin Cumberland drained a 3-point shot at 11:51 of the first half to extend his current streak of 35 games in a row with at least one trey made. Cumberland drained a trey at Ohio State last week after making at least one in every game he played last year with Oakland, giving him the sixth-longest active streak in the NCAA. Cumberland ended his night with a team-high 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including 5-of-10 from three. He added two assists as well in his 18 minutes of play.
  • Mika Adams-Woods subbed in at 12:28 in the first half to make his collegiate debut. At 10:29 in the first half, he collected his first collegiate points on a breakaway layup off a Zach Harvey steal. Adams-Woods finished the night with two points on 1-of-3 shooting and added five rebounds and three assists.
  • Chris Vogt scored 12 points on the night to hit double-digits for just the fourth time in his career and the first time since he went for 16 last year for Northern Kentucky at home against Detroit Mercy. Vogt was 6-of-8 from the floor and added three boards, one assist and two blocks. The 12 points are his fourth-highest point total in his career with his other three double-digit outputs coming last year with NKU: 20 at home against Green Bay (1/24/19), 16 at Milwaukee (2/28/19) and the 16 against Detroit.
  • Along with the five points two assists and one block he recorded, Trevon Scott also pulled down 11 rebounds, marking just the third time in his career he recorded double-digit boards in back-to-back contests. The last time he accomplished the feat came near the end of January as he secured 10 at Wichita State (1/19/19) before grabbing 11 at home against Tulsa (1/24/19). Additionally, the 23 rebounds he has recorded in the opening two games of the year are the most he has tallied in back-to-back contests, surpassing the 21 he recorded in the games with WSU and TU.
  • ON THE LIST: Jarron Cumberland scored 11 points on the night – all in the first half of play – as he brought his career scoring total to 1,387 points to move into 19th all-time. With his new total, he is now two points ahead of Bobby Austin, who scored 1,385 points for the Bearcats from 1979-82. Next on the list is No. 18 Paul Hogue, who is four points ahead of Cumberland after scoring 1,391 points for UC from 1960-62.
  • DEBUT: True freshmen Mika Adams-Woods and walk-on Rob Banks made their collegiate debut against Drake.
