// THE SERIES
UC trails OSU in the all-time series 4-20 and are 3-5 in games played in Cincinnati. In the last overall meeting, the Bearcats dropped a 69-56 decision last season in Columbus. In the setback, the Red & Black rallied from a 23 point second-half deficit to trail by just three points, 59-56, with three minutes left in regulation. The Buckeyes responded with a 10-0 run over the duration of the fourth quarter to come away with the victory. Guard Sam Rodgers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East) led the Red & Black with a season-high 14 points, to go along with four steals, four rebounds, and three assists. In the last matchup between the in-state schools in Cincinnati, UC fell 87-76 in 2017. Forward IImar'I Thomas (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep) scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while forward Angel Rizor (Zebulon, N.C./East Wake) posted 15 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.

// LAST TIME OUT
UC (1-1) dropped a 60-50 decision to the Saint Louis Billikens on Sunday at Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats duo of senior guard Antoinette Miller (Detroit, Mich./Southfield-Lathrup) and Thomas provided the scoring punch again with Miller posting a game-high 21 points – as well as four assists – while Thomas posted a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds. Miller's 20-plus-point performance was her fifth straight going back to last season, while Thomas' double-double was her first this season and the ninth of her career.

// SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
On Monday, Miller was selected to the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Weekly Honor Roll. The preseason all-conference pick averaged 21 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds during the first week of the season as the Bearcats went 1-1. She scored a game-high 21 points – to go along with four assists, three rebounds, and three steals -- in a 68-62 season-opening win Tuesday vs. Utah. She followed with an identical points, assists, and rebounds performance Sunday in a 60-50 loss to Saint Louis. Entering Monday, Miller stood tied for fourth in the conference in scoring and ninth in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0).

The Bearcats have created a formidable home-court advantage inside newly-renovated Fifth Third Arena with an 18-3 home record going back to last season. In total, the Red & Black boasts a 74% (42-15) winning percentage on their home floor over the last four seasons.

Announced at AAC Basketball Media Day on Oct. 14, UC was selected to finish in a tie for third in the 12-team league. In addition, Miller and Thomas were both tabbed for the preseason all-conference second team. Chosen by the league's head coaches, the predicted finish is the highest the Bearcats have ever received in their seven years in The American, while the preseason all-conference accolades are the first since Alyesha Lovett received second team all-AAC honors in 2014.

UC will aim to continue the momentum from last year's historic season which included consecutive postseason wins for the first time in program history (WNIT quarterfinals), first 20-win season (24) since 2003, first time with 12 conference wins since 1999, and highest-ever finish in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) (third place).

With nine newcomers to the program in 2019-20, the Red & Black returns five starters, as well as Illinois transfer Addaya Moore (Granite City, Ill./Granite City/Illinois). Returning senior starters include 2019 second team all-AAC pick Miller, Rizor, and Sam Rodgers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East). In addition, first team all-conference honoree Thomas and reigning league Newcomer of the Year Florence Sifa (Bujumbura, Burundi/Jacksonville College) are also back.
