University of Cincinnati volleyball's Jordan Thompson has earned 2019 CoSDIA Academic All-District First Team honors as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday.

The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Thompson was named to CoSIDA's 2018 Academic All-District Second Team last season, becoming the ninth Bearcats volleyball student-athlete to receive the honor and the first since 2015. With a spot on the first team this season, she will now be in consideration for Academic All-America which will be announced in December.

Thompson earned the distinction by achieving a cumulative 3.67 GPA in graduate school studying criminal justice. She previously graduated with a bachelor's in criminal justice and will earn her second degree this December. The award is just another in a long list of accolades collected by the redshirt-senior this season. Thompson leads the country in kills, kills per set, points and points per set for the second-straight season. She became UC's all-time leader in kills this season and with 19 more will become just the ninth person in NCAA history to reach the 2,500 kill mark in her career.

With 50 kills on her senior night, Thompson became the first Division I player to record 50 or more kills in a match in the current rally-scoring era. The 50-kill feat has been done just six times before by five other players in NCAA Division-I history and hadn't been accomplished since the 1999 season. She is on pace to break her own single-season records for kills and points in the UC and AAC history books. She is also on pace to become the first UC player to ever average 5.00 or more kills per set in her career.
