TAMPA, Fla. – University of Cincinnati men's soccer fell 4-0 to the USF Bulls on Friday night at Corbett Stadium in its final road contest of the regular season.
With the loss, UC dropped to 5-10-1 overall and 1-4-1 in American Athletic Conference (AAC) play. Meanwhile, USF improved to 8-5-1 on the season and 2-3 in the league.
The Bearcats fell behind early when the Bulls deposited a score in the sixth minute. The Red & Black's hole dug deeper in the 23rd minute – a penalty-kick conversion -- and again in the 42nd minute with back-to-back goals by the home team.
Looking to rebound from a 3-0 halftime shortfall, UC's defense kept USF off the board for much of the second half, but was unable to chip away at the deficit. The Bulls added another tally in the 74th minute to ice the game, 4-0.
On the night, the Bearcats totaled seven shots, but just one on goal – a try by senior Donovan Segree (Kingston, Jamaica/Jamaica College/Daytona State) in the first half. Segree led the team with three shots, while junior Creggton Charlton (Clarendon, Jamaica/Clarendon College/Daytona State) added two. Junior goalkeeper Noah Lawrence (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Sacred Heart) saved five shots to bring his season total to conference-leading 59 stops.
