Bearcats Outlast Valparaiso in Overtime, 81-77

Chris Vogt scored a career-high 21 points and Keith Williams added 17 in Cincinnati's 81-77 overtime win over Valparaiso at the Paradise Jam.

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands – Chris Vogt had a career-high 21 points as Cincinnati edged past Valparaiso 81-77 in overtime to win the third-place game of the Paradise Jam on Monday night at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center.

Keith Williams made a pair of free throws with 20 seconds left in the extra period for an 80-77 lead. Valpo was off on a 3-pointer and Williams added a make at the line.

Williams finished with 17 points for Cincinnati (4-2). Trevon Scott added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Mika Adams-Woods had 10 points. Vogt shot 9 for 11 from the floor.

The Bearcats went on a 26-6 run over nearly 10 minutes in the second half for a 56-44 lead.

The Crusaders (4-3) answered with an 18-5 run of their own to take the lead at 62-61 on a layup by Javon Freeman-Liberty. 

Cincinnati edged out to a 70-65 advantage on a layup and a pair of free throws by Vogt with 1:50 left in regulation. After two Freeman-Liberty free throws, Valpo's Eron Gordon hit a 3-pointer with 45 seconds left to force the overtime period.  

Freeman-Liberty scored a career-high 32 points. Nick Robinson added 12 points.
