TicketsMACON, Ga. – University of Cincinnati women's golf senior Alyssa Burritt (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) continued her strong play Monday with a total score of 150 to lead the Bearcats during the first two rounds of play at the Mercer Idle Hour Collegiate Championship at Idle Hour Golf & Country Club.
As a team, UC carded a two-round score of 626 to place in 11th out of 16 teams.
Burritt's day started with a plus-1 score on the front nine holes of the opening round and followed at 3-over-par on the back. She really made her move in the second round, going plus-2 on the front and even-par on the back – including a birdie on hole 15 -- to move into a tie for 16th on the player leaderboard.
Burritt was joined with a solid showing by fellow senior Daniela Murcia (Bogotá, Colombia) who, after shooting a first-round 81, buckled down during the second round with a 75 (+3) -- highlighted by a pair of birdie scores.
The Red & Black scoring team rounded out with scores of 159, 164, and 166 by freshman Natalia Sompolvorachai (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy Orange), junior Angela Lopez (Bogotá, Colombia), and freshman Paighton Masterson (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake), respectively, with six birdies by the trio.
Third and final-round play will begin Tuesday with an 8 a.m. ET shotgun start. Live scoring and results will be available through BirdieFire.

"Today was a day of learning for the team. The team lost eight strokes to penalties that were in our control. It was a tough day on the golf course as we did not execute shots to the level of our expectations. To combine that with penalties, it really hurt. Our seniors rose to the occasion -- Alyssa put together two good rounds and Daniela put together a solid afternoon round. We need to take the momentum into tomorrow's round while paying attention to all the small details that we can control. We'll see if we can finish off our fall season with a great round."
