CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati men's soccer battled No. 6 UCF into overtime Tuesday night on Senior Night, but fell 3-2 in the 98th minute.
The loss ends the Bearcats season at 5-11-1 overall and 1-5-1 in conference play. UCF improves to 13-1-2 and 6-0-1 in the American Athletic Conference.
The game was scoreless at the half. The Knights started the scoring when they connected at the 49th minute. The Bearcats had a quick answer. After a shot by Darryn Commissiong missed, Creggton Charlton found the back of the net a few second later to tie the game at one 50 minutes in.
UCF took the lead back ten minutes later, but UC once again had a goal of its own to eventually send the game into overtime. Commissiong landed a shot unassisted at the 82nd minute to even the score.
In overtime, the Knights were able to outlast the Bearcats, scoring eight minutes in to escape with the victory.
UCF outshot UC 13-10 and 7-5 in shots on goals. Commissiong led with three shots for the Bearcats while Donovan Segree and Charlton had two each. Noah Lawrence played the full 98 minutes in goal with four saves.
