University of Cincinnati volleyball's Jordan Thompson has been named a 2019 CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-American as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Monday.

Thompson becomes just the fifth Bearcats player in program history to achieve the honor and just the second player to receive both academic and athletic All-America accolades during her UC career. She joins Julie DuPont who was a CoSIDA Academic All-American 2002-2004 and a AVCA All-American 2003-2004.

Thompson earned the distinction by achieving a cumulative 3.67 GPA in graduate school studying criminal justice. She previously graduated with a bachelor's in criminal justice and will earn her second degree this month. The award is just another in a long list of accolades collected by the redshirt-senior this season. Thompson leads the country in kills, kills per set, points and points per set for the second-straight season. She became UC's all-time leader in kills this year and became the ninth person in NCAA history to reach the 2,500 kill mark in her career.

With 50 kills on her senior night, Thompson became the first Division I player to record 50 or more kills in a match in the current rally-scoring era. The 50-kill feat has been done just six times before by five other players in NCAA Division-I history and hadn't been accomplished since the 1999 season. She is on pace to break her own single-season records for kills and points in the UC and AAC history books. She is also on pace to become the first UC player to ever average 5.00 or more kills per set in her career.
