The 11th annual Joe Nuxhall Classic comes to Cincinnati this week with four games on the schedule in the event that showcases the abundance of baseball talent in southwest Ohio.

Wednesday 3 p.m. : TBD

Champion to be presented trophy at conclusion of championship game

• The 11th annual Joe Nuxhall Classic will be held at Marge Schott Stadium next Tuesday and Wednesday
• Wright State and Miami will play the opening game on Tuesday at 3 p.m. and UC will follow by taking on Xaiver
• The four teams will also play at 3 p.m. and approximately 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday with matchups determined by Tuesday's results
• The tournament began in 2009 to honor its namesake, the legendary Reds player and announcer Joe Nuxhall, as well as promote and celebrate amateur baseball in southwest Ohio
• Cincinnati, Miami, Wright State and Xavier have participated in the classic every year
• UC hosts in odd years while Miami hosts in even years
• Wright State has won four titles, UC three, Miami two and Xavier one
• Nuxhall became the youngest player ever to appear in a MLB game when he took the mound for the Cincinnati Reds against the St. Louis Cardinals at Crosley Field on June 10, 1944 at the age of 15
• He played for 16 years in the Major Leagues and immediately upon retiring, began a 40-year broadcasting career with the Reds
• UC is 10-10 all-time in the event and won it in 2010, 2011 and 2014. The Bearcats were the runner-up in 2013, 2015 and 2017

UC started the event last season with an 11-1 victory over Wright State
• Host Miami followed with a 6-5 victory against Xavier to qualify for the championship game
• In Wednesday's first contest, Wright State beat Xavier 9-7
• Miami won the 2018 tournament on home field with a 9-8 victory over Cincinnati, winning on a walk-off hit for the second straight game
 
// KULLMAN RECOGNIZED BY THE AAC
The American Athletic Conference placed Bearcats' Friday starter A.J. Kullman on its weekly Honor Roll for his outstanding performance this past weekend at No. 22 UConn
• Going toe-to-toe against the conference preseason pitcher of the year, Kullman went 6.0 innings with one run, six hits, no walks and four strikeouts to earn the win
• That victory spearheaded a series win over the nationally-ranked Huskies as the Bearcats fell 5-1 on Saturday but then rebounded with a 10-4 victory on Sunday
• UC is currently tied for third in the American with UConn at 5-4
• ECU leads at 8-1 while Tulane is 4-2

• Season tickets for all home games this season are available by calling 1-877-CATS-TIX, logging on to GoBearcats.com or by visiting the ticket office located at Richard E. Lindner Center in Varsity Village
• Tickets are only $50 for adults and $30 for seniors (65 and older) and youth (aged 4-12)
• UC students receive free admission to all games with a valid ID
• Single game tickets may also be purchased for any game set to be played at Marge Schott Stadium this season
• A flex plan option is available, allowing fans to purchase ten undated vouchers for $35
