From the Start: The Bearcats got out to a 12-2 start including a 7-0 run in the first three minutes and never trailed in the game. The largest lead of the night was 23 points with 7:51 left in the game. 

Leaders: Three Bearcats reached double-digits in scoring. Chris Vogt led the way with 19 while Jarron Cumberland followed with 15. Trevon Scott was the lone player in the game with a double-double, finishing with 10 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Two players from UConn reached double figures in scoring as Brendan Adams had 11 and James Bouknight had 10.

// TEAM NOTES

  • The victory pushed the Bearcats to 8-5 overall on the season while UConn fell to 9-4
  • With the win, Cincinnati improved to 55-4 in home games played since the start of the 2016-17 season 
  • AAC OPENERS: UC is now 26-4 in conference openers since 1990 (start of the Bob Huggins coaching era), including a 6-1 record in American Athletic Conference starts. The Bearcats have won 10 of their last 11 league openers. 
  • IN THE SERIES: Cincinnati has now won the last eight meetings versus UConn and 10 of the last 11. Last season, UC won 74-72 in overtime in Cincinnati and 64-60 in Hartford. 
  • The Bearcats scored 42 points in the paint in the game, reaching 40 for the fourth time this season. They were four points shy of their season-high of 46, which they have done twice (versus Valparaiso and versus No. 21 Tennessee).
  • The 51 points scored by UConn marked a season-low for a Cincinnati opponent. 

// PLAYER NOTES

  • Chris Vogt started league play on a strong note with a game-high 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field. He has reached double digits in scoring in each of the last 12 games while shooting 50 percent or better from the field 12 times this season. 
  • Jarron Cumberland finished the night with 15 points to bring his career total to 1,511 points. He now sits at 14th in UC's all-time scoring list, surpassing Robert Miller (1975-78) who finished his career with 1,498. Cumberland needs 56 more points to move up to 13th place and to pass Jason Maxiell's (2002-05) career total of 1,566.
  • Jarron Cumberland also became the fourth Bearcat in program history to reach 1,500 points and 300 assists in his career. Cumberland joins Oscar Robinson (2,973 points/425 assists from 1958-60), Steve Logan (1,985 points/456 assists from 1999-2002) and Deonta Vaughn (1,885 points/511 assists from 2007-2010). Cumberland now has 1,511 career points and 316 career assists.
  • Trevon Scott recorded his third double-double of the season with 10 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. He now has eight double-doubles in his career.
