University of Cincinnati volleyball continues to make history as the team ended the season ranked in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association poll for the first time ever.
The Bearcats received the No. 19 spot in the final Division I coaches poll for the 2019 season. UC made its third NCAA postseason appearance in the last four years and gained national recognition for its success. The Bearcats took down VCU in the first round to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time. Facing No. 6 seed and No. 2 AVCA ranked Pitt, the Bearcats battled through five sets for the biggest win ever for the program. The team advanced to the Stanford Regional as one of just 16 schools remaining in NCAA postseason play. UC ended the season in a hard-fought, five-set match against No. 11 seed Penn State, who finished the year ranked No. 7 in the AVCA coaches poll.
UC ended the 2019 campaign with a 27-7 record. Six of the seven regular starters were sophomores or freshman, with the majority of the roster returning in 2020.
