University of Cincinnati cheer and dance along with the Bearcat mascot will perform their National Championship competition routines this Sunday, January 12 at 5:30 p.m. in Fifth Third Arena. Bearcats fans are encouraged to attend the free, public event.
 
The spirit squads will compete at the 2020 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship next week, held in Orlando, Florida, January 17-19.
 
UC will first compete in Game Day Semi-Finals on Friday, January 17 at 3:04 p.m. Cheer will be back at it on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. Bearcat will perform Saturday at 4:25 p.m. Dance's Pom Semi-Finals will also be held Saturday, with UC competing at 8:38 a.m. Saturday's competition will end with an 8:21 p.m. Hip Hop Semi-Finals performance. All cheer and dance finals will be held on Sunday.
 
The cheer squad posted two top-10 finishes last year, including placing third in Division I-A Game Day, the same category they were National Champions in 2018. The dance team has long been considered one of the nation's elite squads, with seven National Championships and 10 World Championships to its credit. In 2009, the team was selected to represent our country as Team USA Dance at the first ICU World Championship. They were also selected to be Team USA again in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. The team won three consecutive National titles in the Hip Hop category for the years 2004, 2005 and 2006 and then won the title back in 2009 and again in 2014, 2015 and 2017.
