CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati football team closed out the 2019 campaign ranked No. 21 in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls.

UC (11-3) closed the 2019 season with an American Athletic Conference East Division Championship and a win in the TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl. The Bearcats won 11 games for only the fourth time in school history while the back-to-back 11-win seasons in 2018 and 2019 occurred for only the second time in UC's 132 seasons of football.

The Bearcats have been ranked in five previous AP postseason polls, 2007 (17), 2008 (17), 2009 (8), 2011 (25) and 2018 (24). UC's 10 appearances in the AP poll throughout the 2019 season were the second most in school history, behind the 15 from 2009.

UC made the final coaches poll of the season for the seventh time, equaling its highest postseason ranking since 2011. The Bearcats were previously ranked following the season in 2007 (20), 2008 (17), 2009 (9), 2011 (21), 2012 (22) and 2018 (23).

Looking ahead to the 2020 season, the Bearcats return 16 of 22 starters on the offensive and defensive side of the ball, 57 letterwinners and 13 of the team's top 15 tacklers from 2019.

The Bearcats will open the season on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020 against Austin Peay inside Nippert Stadium.
