TicketsCINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati women's golf Head Coach Janet Carl announced Friday the signing of Carmela Simón Prieto. She will join the Bearcats beginning with the 2020-21 season.
"We are pleased to announce the signing of Carmela," said Carl. "We have seen a remarkable desire to work on all aspects of her game. She has played nationally for the Spainish team and will bring her experiences to our team. She also brings a love for learning and being an asset to her community through her community service efforts."
Ranked No. 39 in Spain for her age group, Prieto won the 2019 Ladies Interclubs Championship. In addition, last year, she won silver at the Spanish National Club Championship and bronze at the State Championship. A year prior, she finished fourth at the Valenciana Junior Championship and previously sixth at the city U18 and U16 championships.
Prieto joins Makenna Jones (New Paris, Ohio/National Trail) and Sadie Pan (Clarksville, Tenn./Rossview) as signees for next season.
