Baseball America announced its 2020 Preseason All-America Team with University of Cincinnati's Joey Wiemer earning recognition on the Third Team.
Wiemer is one of 42 players voted on the preseason teams and one of three outfielders on the Third Team. Baseball America polls major league baseball organizations' scouting departments to decide the preseason teams based on players' performance, talent and professional potential.
The junior hit .263 in 2019 during his sophomore campaign with 13 doubles, two triples, six homeruns, 42 runs scored and a team-high 21 stolen bases. He was 2-for-4 in both the semifinal and championship games of the American Athletic Conference Tournament last year and helped UC take down Oregon State in NCAA Regional action with two doubles, a RBI and two runs scored. Wiemer went on to have a big summer in the prestigious Cape Cod League where he was named an All-Star and helped his team reach the championship series.
