CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati director of football video Adam Niemeyer was named the 2019 American Athletic Conference Video Coordinator of the Year, the Collegiate Sports Video Association announced.
It is the second CSVA honor for Niemeyer, who was also recognized for his work in 2017. The award is voted on by video coordinators in each league. Niemeyer and the other conference award winners are eligible for the Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year Award, to be voted on in May at the annual CSVA Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The award is presented annually to the individual who possesses the qualities and attributes of the late Bob Matey, the former video coordinator at Texas A&M.
Niemeyer, a two-time UC grad in 2011 and 2013, joined the football staff in 2012 as the assistant director of football video. He started his career as a student video assistant in 2007 and later served as a graduate assistant before ascending to a full-time role. He was promoted to director of football video in 2014.
Niemeyer is responsible for video, computers and technology for the football coaching staff, including capturing games and practices, opponent video exchange, self-scout and opponent breakdowns, and video cut-ups used as a teaching tool. He also manages football's video network and library.
He oversees a staff of nine student assistants, who are integral in the day-to-day operations of the video office.
The Bearcats will open 2020 on Saturday, Sept. 5 against Austin Peay inside Nippert Stadium.
