TicketsCINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati tennis team won its third match in a row with a 5-2 victory over visiting Western Michigan at the Western Tennis and Fitness Club Saturday afternoon.

// DOUBLES MATCHES
Western Michigan was able to earn a win on court one, 6-1, to open up the match, but UC answered back. Kelli Niehaus and Anna Philip equaled the score with a 6-2 victory before Alexia Coutino and Emma Miceli battled to take the next. The final doubles match was an intense contest with the Bearcats pulling out a 7-5 win for the first point of the day.
// SINGLES PLAY
The Bearcats won the first three singles matches to take a 4-0 lead and win the contest. Caroline Morton wrapped up her day with a 6-2, 6-0 straight-set victory and Ioana Guna followed with a 6-3, 6-4 win to put UC in good position. Emma Miceli clinched the match by winning her contest 6-1, 6-4. Alexia Coutino dropped a 6-1, 2-6, 6-0 decision and Kelli Niehaus lost 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7), but the Bearcats finished the match with a victory. Maria Santilli ended the day with a 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 1-0 (10-6) win.
