Scott Named League and National Player of the Week

CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati redshirt-senior forward Trevon Scott (Townsend, Ga./McIntosh County Academy) was named both the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week and the College Sports Madness National Player of the Week on Monday. 

Scott averaged 19.5 points and 15.5 points while shooting 65.2 percent (15 of 23) and 50.0 percent (3 of 6) from 3-point range in a pair of overtime wins last week that have Cincinnati (17-8, 10-3 AAC) tied with Houston for first place in The American. 

Scott matched a career-high with 25 points and grabbed a career-best 19 rebounds with a trio of 3-pointers in 42 minutes during a 92-86 overtime win against Memphis on Thursday. He posted 14 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds with three blocks during a 70-67 overtime victory at East Carolina on Sunday. 

Over his last three games, including a 25-point 13-rebound performance at UConn on Feb. 9, Scott is averaging 21.3 points and 14.7 rebounds while shooting 62.5 percent (25 of 40) from the floor. 

For the season, Scott is averaging 10.8 points and 10.0 rebounds, 2.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals with 10 double-doubles. He 10.0 rebounds per game are the most by a Bearcat since Dwight Jones averaged 10.1 rebounds during the 1982-83 campaign.  

In league action, Scott ranks among the AAC's leaders in seven categories: rebounds (first at 11.0), defensive rebounds (first at 8.5), steals (third at 2.1), field goal percentage (fourth at .548), minutes played (fifth at 34.7), offensive rebounds (tied for fifth at 2.5) and assists (14th at 2.8).

It marks the third time this season the AAC has recognized Scott. He was named to the league's weekly honor roll on Jan. 13 and Feb. 10.
