HOUSTON, Texas - University of Cincinnati swimming and diving had a big third day at the 2020 American Athletic Conference Championship, breaking six school records. The men used the effort to move into first place in the standings heading into the final day of competition.
Spencer Sehlhorst got the record-breaking day started with a second-place finish in the 400 IM with a UC-best time of 3:48.42. Lina Kutsko broke her own record in the 100 fly, coming to the wall in 52.20 to place second. Michael Balcerak won the 200 free with a time of 1:35.15. He broke teammate Din Selmanovic's record; Selmanovic came in third in the race.
Both Blake Hanna and Joey Puglessi's 100 back times broke the previous school record held by Puglessi. Hanna beat him to the wall, posting a 47.58 to place second. Puglessi came in third at 47.63.
The Bearcats ended the night with school record swims in the 400 medley relay for both the women and men. Jaclyn Klimczak, Victoria Hunt, Kutsko and Abby Johnston swam the event in 3:38.68 to finish third. Hanna, Dominic Polling, Balcerak and Alex Fortman placed second, coming to the wall in 3:10.75.
