// QUOTING HEAD COACH DOUG MARTIN
On the start of the coming spring season:
"There's always excitement for the spring season and what it holds for us. We've had some good work to this point. We've been able to get outside quite a bit. We're just coming off practicing two days in Florida which is extremely beneficial for this group.
"Three of the five guys competing this week will have already played at Colleton River so we'll have some familiarity with the golf course. It's a great venue, challenging golf course and a very good, competitive field.
"We're trying to continue to build. Most of these guys have not played competitive golf since Nov. 1. There's going to be some of that getting back into that competitive spirit and getting back into preparing mentally and physically this week. It's not starting over but it's starting fresh. Anytime you are away from competition for a while you have to get yourself back into a groove.
"The spring schedule is set up to where we play two tournaments really quick, back-to-back, and then practice over spring break before playing three tournaments in a row in preparation for the conference tournament. It's a pretty quick-hitting spring."
