Tennis Plays Host to Wright State Friday

The University of Cincinnati tennis team returns to home action Friday as the Bearcats will play host to visiting Wright State at 5 p.m. on the indoor courts at Western Tennis & Fitness Club in Cincinnati. The Bearcats (6-5) will look to snap a three-game slide while facing the Raiders, who enter with a 0-7 record on the year.

The Raiders enter the dual with an 0-7 record on the year, including three by 4-3 decisions, including their last two duals, including both Western Kentucky and Chicago State. WSU is 0-1 on the road and 0-3 away from home with two losses in neutral-site matches as well.

// SERIES HISTORY: BEARCATS vs. RAIDERS
Dating back to the 1991-92 season, the Bearcats hold an 18-1 record against the Raiders and have won 15 in a row, including nine in a row in Cincinnati. Last year, the Bearcats secured a 7-0 victory in Dayton, the first win by shutout over WSU since the 2013 season.

// CINCINNATI 500?
Cincinnati is 6-5 on the year entering the weekend. With those wins, the Bearcats now have 493 all-time victories in program history, needing just seven more to reach 500.

// IT'S ACADEMIC
The UC Athletics Department has continued to shine academically with the tennis team being toward the top of the list annually. During the 2018-19 academic year, the team amassed a cumulative GPA of 3.727 as nine players earned recognition from the league as AAC All-Academic. The team also was honored with the AAC Team Academic Excellence Award which is given annually to the team with the highest GPA in the league in each sport. The tennis program was one of five UC programs to have the highest GPA in their respective sport for the 2018-19 academic year. Earlier this month, the grades were released for the Fall 2019 semester with tennis once again leading the charge at UC with its 3.796 GPA the best among all women's teams and second overall behind only men's cross country and their 3.829.
