CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati football team added three coaches to its 2020 staff, Head Coach Luke Fickell announced Thursday.

Perry Eliano (cornerbacks), Dan Enos (associate head coach/running backs) and Greg Scruggs (defensive line) started with the Bearcats earlier this week and will be on the field this weekend for the start of the 15-practice spring session.

Scruggs spent the last two seasons as UC's director of player development, Eliano joined UC after two years at New Mexico and Enos, who coached quarterbacks at Cincinnati from 2004-05, spent the 2019 season as the offensive coordinator at Miami (FL).

"We are excited to bring two new coaches on board and move Greg Scruggs into a full-time coaching role," Fickell said. "We've been lucky enough to have a great deal of continuity in our staff over the past three seasons and it was important to find coaches who were the right fit for our program. Coach Scruggs played the position at the highest level, brings a ton of energy to everything we do and has been able to develop relationships with our players over the past year as our director of player development. Coach Eliano and Coach Enos are veteran teachers, recruiters and developers of talent who really fit what we are doing at UC. Everyone is ready to hit the field Saturday and get spring practice rolling."

Additionally, Fickell announced quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli would add the responsibility of passing game coordinator. Guidugli, a member of UC's James P, Kelly Athletics Hall of Fame, passed for a school-record 11,453 yards between 2001-04. He joined the coaching staff 2017 mentoring the running backs and moved over to quarterbacks in 2018.

UC will return to the practice field Saturday to open the spring campaign. The Bearcats will celebrate the end of spring practice on Friday, April 10, 2020 from 6-8 p.m. ET inside Nippert Stadium. The free football practice event is open to the public and all fans are welcome. More details will be released as they're finalized.

The Bearcats are coming off a second-straight 11-win season in 2019 along with an American Athletic Conference East Division Championship and the TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl title. UC, which ended the season ranked 21st in all three major polls, won 11 games for only the fourth time in the program's 132 seasons and had back-to-back 11-win seasons for only the second time in school history.
