University of Cincinnati divers Tricia Roscoe and Claire Schuermann will compete at the 2020 NCAA Zone C Diving Championships this week, held at the Lancaster Aquatic Center at Kentucky.
Both will compete in 1-meter on Thursday, March 12 with competition beginning at 1 p.m. Schuermann will be back in action on 3-meter on Friday then both will compete in platform on Saturday. Friday's event will also begin at 1 p.m. and Saturday's dives will start at 11 a.m.
The duo qualified for NCAA Zones by reaching the preset standards at one point throughout the season. Zone C is made up of athletes from Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. The top 18 scorers from the preliminary round will advance to the finals. At the end of the final round, scores from both the prelims and finals will be compiled to decide who advances to the 2020 NCAA Championships. Seven women on 1-meter, six women on 3-meter and ten women on platform will advance from Zone C.
Roscoe posted her best 1-meter score to qualify during the Senior Day meet against Kentucky, scoring a 277.85. Her highest platform score came in the prelims at the American Athletic Conference Championships where she scored 240.30. Schuermann earned her best 1-meter score this season of 297.82 during the home meet versus Xavier. She scored a 201.50 at the conference championships in platform and a 311.32 against Xavier on 3-meter.
