Bearcats Signee Haymer Named WBCA Two-Year College Coaches' All-American

Destiny Haymer, who signed a National Letter of Intent to join the University of Cincinnati women's basketball program next season, has been selected as a 2020 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Two-Year College Coaches' All-American, the Association announced last week.

CINCINNATIDestiny Haymer, who signed a National Letter of Intent to join the University of Cincinnati women's basketball program next season, has been selected as a 2020 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Two-Year College Coaches' All-American, the Association announced last week. Haymer, who will be a junior with the Bearcats for the 2020-21 season, earned the national honor while playing for Jones College in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
 
Haymer, a native of Tchula, Miss., helped JC to a 24-4 record and the #8 seed in the national tournament that was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. JC reached the national tournament after finishing as conference runners-up before winning the NJCAA Division I Region 23 Tournament to punch their ticket to nationals for the fourth year in a row.
 
On the year, Haymer was second on her team with 11.4 points per game scored while leading the way with 6.8 assists per contest. Nationally, her assists average ranked her fifth in the NJCAA while her 170 total dimes ranked ninth overall. Haymer also averaged 5.0 rebounds per game and 1.3 steals per contest in her 27.3 minutes played that included appearances in the starting lineup in all 25 games. All told, she tallied two double-doubles on the with games of 10 points and 11 assists and 11 points and 11 assists while also posting one triple-double a she scored a career-high 21 points, pulled down 10 boards and dished out 10 assists in a win over LSU-Eunice in the regional semifinal.
 
Haymer ranks as the No. 12 junior college recruit in the 2020 class by All Star Girls Report (ASGR). With her honors earned this season, she is a two-time All-MACJC and NJCAA All-Region 23 selection. In her two years with JC, she averaged 11.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
 
In high school, was tabbed the 2017-18 Gatorade Mississippi Player of the Year. As a prep, she averaged 16.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.8 steals and 3.4 assists per game while leading the Jaguars to the 2016 5A state championship. She also tallied 10 career triple-doubles and added one quadruple-double.
