CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball got a great start on the mound and continued its hot hitting to sweep Eastern Michigan with a 14-2 victory on Sunday.
Drake Batcho struck out a career-high nine batters through 6.0 scoreless innings. He gave up just two hits, and both of those came with two outs in the sixth frame. Meanwhile, the offense remained explosive with 15 hits and big nine-run inning.

• Ben Vore followed Batcho out of the bullpen with a clean inning, giving up just one hit with one strikeout
• Joey Wiemer allowed one run and one hit with one walk in 1.0 inning and struck out two
• Zach Segal finished the game on the mound

• Eric Santiago was 2-for-3 with a homerun, two RBI and three runs scored

The Bearcats opened the scoring with three runs in the fourth. Wyatt Stapp, Santiago and Nicholson all singled to load the bases. Bremner and Johnson were issued back-to-back walks then Mercer scored one on a base hit through the right side
Bottom of the 5th
The big inning came with nine runs in the fifth. Stapp was hit and Santiago walked to get two on. An error with Paul Komistek at the plate allowed Stapp to score. Bremner walked once again to load the bases and two more walks, to Johnson and Jace Mercer, kept the runs coming in. After a pitching chance, Wiemer doubled two home and Powell earned a two-RBI single. The next two runs of the frame came via a Santiago homerun to left field

The Eagles got their first run on a single, walk and two wild pitches
Bottom of the 8th
The Bearcats answered with two in the bottom of the frame. Bases-loaded walks to both Nate Meyer and Jake Hansen tallied the runs
Top of the 9th
Eastern Michigan was able to get one more run on a walk, double and single, but a great play by Bremner to turn a double play ended the game
