Lacrosse Gets Record-Setting Performance in 25-8 Win

KENT, Ohio - The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team set a single-game school record for goals in a 25-8 win at Kent State on Sunday.

KENT, Ohio - The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team set a single-game school record for goals in a 25-8 win at Kent State on Sunday.

The game was a make up of the teams Feb. 7 matchup which was postponed by snow. Cincinnati (3-4) has won three games in the past seven days after starting the season 0-4. Kent State dropped to 0-5 on the season.

The Bearcats 25 goals sets a school single-game record, surpassing the previous mark of 22 which happened three games, against Marquette and Gardner-Webb in 2019 and vs. Presbyterian in 2013.

Peyton Mottice set a career mark with six goals, while Monica Borzillo netted nine total points with five scores and four assists. Alyssa Adams scored four while Gianna Napoletano had three goals.

UC built a 10-goal advantage at halftime, leading 17-7 with Borzillo and Mottice netting five goals apiece. 

Kent State got on the board first and the Bearcats followed by scoring 13 of the next 15 goals before the Flashes scored four straight of their own to pull within 13-7 with 3:36 left. UC roared back by closing the half with four consecutive goals to secure the halftime edge.

The Bearcats 17-goal output in the opening half tied for the 15th-best single-game scoring effort in school history. 

UC returns action on Friday, March 13, playing host to #13 Michigan at 4 p.m. inside Gettler Stadium.
