CINCINNATI - Monica Borzillo has been named the American Athletic Conference Lacrosse Attacker of the Week while her University of Cincinnati teammates Alyssa Adams and Peyton Mottice were selected to the AAC Honor Roll, the league announced today. All three Bearcats played a big role in the helping UC to a 2-0 weekend and extend the team's current winning streak to three in a row following a home win over Stetson (16-14) and a road win at Kent State (25-8).
The award for Borzillo is her second of the season (Honor Roll February 24) and the first of the year for the Bearcats for a major award winner. Adams earned a place on the Honor Roll for the second week in a row while Mottice, a freshman, earned the first weekly award of her career. All told, UC has collected seven total honors on the year, including six Honor Roll selections.
// BORZILLO HEATING UP
Borzillo accumulated 15 points on seven goals and eight assists in the two games, including two goals and four assists against Stetson and five goals and four assists against Kent State. Her nine points against the Golden Flashes rank as the fifth-most in a single game in UC history and marks the fourth time in her career she has hit that total in a single game. Additionally, her four assists in both games tie for the ninth-most in a single contest, tying her for ninth all-time, and bringing her career total to 11 games with four or more assists. Overall, she now has 31 points on 18 goals and 13 assists, moving up to fifth in the American so far this year.
// MOTTICE MIGHTY
Mottice tallied her first two collegiate hat tricks over the weekend as she opened with three against Stetson before doubling for a six against the Golden Flashes, tying for the sixth-most goals in a single game at UC. Ranked second on the team in points (21), goals (14) and assists (7), Mottice also recorded eight total draw controls - including five at KSU - while chipping in five ground balls as well.
// ADAMS ADDING
Adams has found her scoring touch of late as she has scored 13 goals in her past three games, including seven over the weekend. She opened with three goals and one assist against Stetson before closing the weekend with four more goals with the game-winner at Kent State as well.
