Women’s Basketball Signs Caitlyn Wilson to NLI

Caitlyn Wilson, the fifth-ranked junior college player in the Class of 2021, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic careers with the University of Cincinnati women's basketball program, Head Coach Michelle Clark-Heard announced today.

CINCINNATI – Caitlyn Wilson, the fifth-ranked junior college player in the Class of 2021, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic careers with the University of Cincinnati women's basketball program, Head Coach Michelle Clark-Heard announced today. Wilson, a native of Cordova, Tenn., recently completed her freshman season at Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Fla., will have three years of eligibility with the Bearcats.
 
"I am excited to announce the newest addition to our signing class," Clark-Heard said. "Caitlyn is a pure shooter that can score from anywhere on the floor. She played in the toughest Junior College Conference in the country last year and gained invaluable experience against quality competition. Caitlyn is a great size guard with a high IQ and the ability to stretch the floor with her shooting range. Please welcome me in welcoming Caitlyn Wilson to our UC Family!"

Comes to Cincinnati after playing her freshman season in 2019-20 at Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Fla., and will have three years of eligibility with the Bearcats ... ranked as the #5 JUCO player in the Class of 2021 according to All-Star Girls Report ... appeared in 27 games on the year and earned a starting position in 18 ... averaged 13.6 points 3.2 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 2.0 steals per game while also averaging 3.4 made three-pointers per contest ... shot 37.5% from the floor, including connecting on 35% of her shots from three ... opened her collegiate career scoring a career-high 36 points in a win over Denmark Tech as she shot 10-of-19 from the floor, including 9-of-17 from three ... led the team in scoring with 17 points in her team's 74-71 win over then-#1 Gulf Coast State ... scored double-digit points in 15 games, reaching 20 or more points in four of those contests ... went on a stretch of eight games in a row with at least three made treys and recorded five or more made three-point baskets in eight games on the year ... earned All-Panhandle Conference First Team honors at the end of the season

Wilson is the fifth member of the current signing class with all five players being eligible to play immediately in the 2020-21 season. Wilson is the second junior college player to sign with the Bearcats, joining Destiny Haymer (Jones College) on the roster. The remaining three players in the class are nearing the completion of their senior years in high school and include Riane Burton (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Ranch HS), Caitlin Elseser (Findlay, Ohio/Liberty-Benton HS) and local product Jillian Hayes (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland HS).
