CINCINNATI – Tari Eason has signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Cincinnati and play basketball for the Bearcats beginning with the 2020-21 season, head coach John Brannen has announced.
"Tari is someone we targeted from our first week on the job," Brannen said. "Coach (Jayson) Gee and our recruiting staff did an excellent job building a relationship with Tari and his family. Tari brings the length and athleticism that is required for our league. What sets him apart is his ball handling and passing ability from the forward position. Tari is a tremendous addition to our program and university."
Eason, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward from Seattle, Wash., averaged 23 points, eight rebounds, three steals and 1.4 blocks during the 2019-20 season at Garfield High School, helping guide his team to the 3A state championship. Eaton averaged 21 points and 12 rebounds during the three-game tournament run, earning most valuable player accolades.
Named Washington's 3A state player of the year by the Associated Press and the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association, Eason was tabbed the top prospect in Washington according to Prep Hoops and is considered one of the nation's Top 15 forwards by Rivals.com. He is listed as a 4-star prospect by Rivals.com and 247Sports.com.
Eason played his junior season at Federal Way High School in Federal Way, Wash., where he led the North Puget Sound League's Olympic Division in rebounding (11.0 per game) while averaging 17.8 points. He helped lead the Eagles to the Class 4A state tournament semifinals.
