CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati junior center Chris Vogt (Mayfield, Ky./Graves County HS/Northern Kentucky) will submit his name for consideration in the 2020 NBA Draft he announced Tuesday via social media.

"First of all, I have to give all of the credit to God. None of this could have happened without him and all things are possible through him," Vogt said.

"With that being said, I am officially entering my name to test the waters of the 2020 NBA draft. I want to thank my family and friends for always supporting me through everything. I want to thank all of the coaches who have ever coached me for helping me get to where I am now.

"My freshman year I wouldn't of ever guessed I would've even had the opportunity to be in this situation, and being able to overcome all of the adversity I've faced my college career. The amount of growth I've had on and off the court every year has been a testament to my faith and hard work, and only excites me for where I'll be a year from now," Vogt added. "However, I'm currently thankful to just be here at this point.

"Returning for my senior year will always be a viable option, and I will maintain my eligibility," Vogt said.

A rule change by the NCAA a year ago allows Vogt to sign with an NCAA-certified agent and gain feedback while maintaining the opportunity to return to Cincinnati for his senior campaign.

Vogt has until Monday, June 15 to decide whether to remain in the draft or return to school. The 2020 NBA Draft is scheduled for Thursday, June 25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. However, the league may adjust both dates due to the current coronavirus pandemic.

"Chris, his parents and myself have had consistent conversations over the course of the last several weeks," UC men's basketball head coach John Brannen said. "We are completely in support of Chris' decision and will be available to assist him when needed."

Vogt produced his best season of collegiate basketball as a Bearcat during the 2019-20 campaign, averaging 11.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks while shooting 64.8 percent (136 of 210) from the field in 28.5 minutes.

The transfer from NKU started 29 of UC's 30 games this past season and ranked among the American Athletic Conference leaders in field goal percentage (first at .648), blocks (fifth at 1.6), offensive rebounds (seventh at 2.6), rebounds (16th at 5.9) and points (tied for 25th at 11.0) for the season.

Vogt averaged 4.53 field goals, just below the 5.0 average required to be listed in national and school records in 2019-20. If he averaged 5.0 field goals, Vogt's .648 field goal percentage would have ranked fourth in the nation and first in school history for a single season.

Vogt was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll after scoring 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting with seven rebounds against Valparaiso (Nov. 25) and later matched his career high, scoring 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting at Tulane (Jan. 4).
