Six student-athletes from University of Cincinnati women's golf were recognized as All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.
Alyssa Burritt, Angela Lopez, Daniela Murcia, Natalia Sompolvorachai, Paighton Masterson and Vanessa Manrique all received the award for achieving a 3.50 GPA or better for the 2019-20 academic year. 1,401 women's collegiate golfers were honored across all levels of collegiate athletics. Less than twenty Division-I institutions had six or more student-athletes recognized, making the Bearcats one of the top academic teams in the country. UC had the most honorees among the American Athletic Conference schools.
"This is such a positive note for us!" said Director of Golf Janet Carl. Our previous ending was walking off a golf course during a practice round, to catch an airplane home ASAP due to Covid-19. I haven't seen these young ladies except in Zoom calls so this makes this much more special! This is a reflection of the hard work they put in on and off the golf course. We could not be more proud of these young ladies and how they represent our athletic department."
Six Bearcats also received WGCA All-American Scholar accolades in 2019. The women's golf team closed out the 2019-20 academic year with the highest spring GPA in the UC athletic department, compiling an impressive 3.906. All seven of the team's members had a 3.4 or higher and three had perfect 4.0's this past spring.
