TicketsCINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati tennis program, including all nine players on the roster, have earned academic recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for the 2019-20 academic year, the Association announced today. As a team, the Bearcats earned an ITA All-Academic Team Award for the seventh year in a row while all seven student-athletes on the roster met the criteria to be named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
// TEAM RECOGNITION
The Bearcats were named to the ITA All-Academic Team Award list after meeting the 3.20 GPA threshold for the seventh year in a row. The run of success began with recognition following the 2013-14 academic year.
// INDIVIDUAL SUCCESS
Individually, all nine Bearcats were selected for academic honors as each held a 3.50 or better GPA for the year and met the criteria of earning a varsity letter and being enrolled at UC for at least two semesters.
The Bearcats that attained the national honor include Sofia Bruno, Alexia Coutino, Ioana Guna, Amanda Huser, Emma Miceli, Caroline Morton, Kelli Niehaus, Anna Philp and Maria Santilli. Of those honored, five Bearcats collected their third career accolades, including Coutino, Guna, Miceli, Morton and Philp. Additionally, Santilli earned her second career honor from the ITA while Bruno, Huser and Niehaus all garnered their first.
